Pacific - New Single: Dream of Mine

Pacific’s new single Dream of Mine is a pop/rock alternative song that will hook you in with their additive rhythms and punchy lyrics. Released this past June it has received an overwhelming amount of praise from Mark Radcliff of BBC Radio1/2 and many other professionals in the industry. They have recently won an original music competition in for BBC.

This Alternative band from Cheshire, England consist of: Anthony Orzel (Vocals, Piano, Guitar), Daniel Orzel (Bass and Backing Vocals), Dave Bithell (Lead Guitars and Backing Vocals), and Drew Burns on Drums.

I tried to find the exact date of their EP release In the Summer but so far it has only been dated for Summer 2012. In the meanwhile I encourage you to check out their song on Itunes and add them to your Facebook to keep track of when their new album will be released.

As Alex Howick of Pegasus Bridge on BBC said: “if the other songs on Pacific’s new Ep out In the Summer are half as good as Dream of Mine, it’ll be one amazing listen!"  www.pacificofficial.com

Swedish Based Group iamamiwhoami A You Tube Hit

iamamiwhoami is a Swedish based group of artists with Jonna Lee and Claes Björklund as songwriters and music producers, Robin Kempe-Bergman directing, John Strandh cinematography and still photographer, Agustin Moreaux-costume and make up designer with Jonna Lee as producer.

This vast collaboration brings together electronic music and visual imagery in a series of videos telling stories that link to each other. The songs and videos are numerically or alphabetically sequenced. Singer-songwriter Jonna Lee leads the project with a David Lynch, surreal feel that grapples with the unconscious and stream of conscious dream setting.

Social media launched this uniquely strange act to viral attention with their use of YouTube and crowd-sourcing. Their first work began as a mystery causing curiosity among viewers and listeners. Uploaded to YouTube in 2009 and sent to music journalists and bloggers, it soon became a wonder as to who created these visceral sound-waves.

Now signed to Cooperative Music, a company of independent labels, iamamiwhoami, has an album release available as of June 2012. Blending various sub-genres of electronica, including trip hop, dream pop, and synth pop, this is the music artists are taking notice of.
Here is a music video called y:

Free Music Thursday - Blanket Barricade & The Rubbish

Blanket Barricade, from Vancouver, British Columbia is a theatrical rock band that reaches for the skies with their track A Velvet Affair. With hooks galore, they weave: tubular bells, choir like vocals, that creates their own twist on indie rock/pop. Their album “ offers a journey through a world of parades, revolutions, and deceit.”

One day before the weekend hits I get a little cooky, and need some quirky music. So I present to you: The Rubbish. This band from Wyoming just moved to city of the angles to self record their fourth album. Their song I Don’t know Where to Go is fun, catchy with a melange of rock and beach boys-eques pop. Their music is known to be: “ sunny and accessible yet subverted by lyrical themes that are bittersweet, escapist and decidedly nostalgic.

Video Wednesday- Scythia & Dance Laury Dance

Scythia has released their long awaited video: Spirit of the Quest this week- and it is epic! Straight from their album Of Exile, Scythia’s new video is filled with incredible guitar riffs, flute solos, thor crashing drum beats; mixed with dark and theatrical narratives. I mean who doesn’t love kilts, armour, and metal.

Eighteen days until Heavy Mtl- if you don’t have your ticket, go buy them! I’m personally doing a little countdown here, and in honor of that I present to you: Dance Laury Dance’s music video Living For the Roll. This song is a whisky slurping, beer bonging, heading banging, dirty, dirty song that has elevated me into R&R heaven- This is one of the many reasons I am so excited for this two day event.

Great Music Great Cause - Battle for Life/ Bataille Pour La Vie. Feat Mackenzie First!

Who doesn’t like going to an awesome show? It’s even better when there’s a good cause behind it. August 9th at Club Soda in Montreal, Quebec, Heidi Go Siik productions with collaboration with Steve’s Music shop are presenting: Battle for Life/ Bataille Pour La Vie. Feat Mackenzie First!

Before I go on about how amazing this show will be, your gonna need a backstory. Heidi go Siik was founded by Heidi Jassinger who has lost her father to lung cancer in 2008. After this tragedy, Heidi decided that she wanted to throw a concert to raise money to help fight cancer, in effect hoping to prevent others from enduring the loss of a loved one like she had. Her first event she threw was called SING FOR LIFE, that took place at Montreal’s Underworld where she asked Dave Black from Makenzie First to help. Through passion, dedication, and support from family and friends she managed to raise 2600$. This was the vehicle which Heidi Go Siik production was born.

So on August 9th - 10 bands will put on the gloves and rock out to win amazing prizes sponsored by Steve’s music shop and yours truly, Vandala Concepts. Headlining this event will be Mackenzie First in support of their album release THE CHRONICLES. Amazingly enough, their bands has offer to donate 1$ for each album sold until the 9th to the Canadian Cancer Society. Along with that, 50% of every ticket sold will go straight to this amazing cause.

Help raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society and come support these local bands battling for first place in our first ever official ~Battle For Life~, (Battle Of The Bands)

Tickets will be sold for 18$ through band members or you can also order them here :
Personal donations will be accepted by the Canadian Cancer Society at the show.

Thank you all for all your endless support!

Also, Come celebrate the release of Mackenzie 1st's new album "The Chronicles" (1$ from every album sold until August Ninth will go to benefit The Canadian Cancer Society)

Forever Storm’s New Single "Mother"

Fans are anxiously awaiting Forever Storm’s new album. Tragedy is set for release this year with singles shared across the globe. Serbia’s own power metal band has a loyal following with a technical sound and positive message.

Each song release shows improvement and growth, surprising since this band blew my mind the first time I saw them live. I’ve never been to Serbia, not yet anyway, but a fan and friend shared a live show clip with me a few years ago. Seeing fans in the outdoor local square in Kragujevac, head banging and moshing across the other side of the world, moved me. I’ve been a fan, friend, and follower since.

Take a listen to this guitar work. It is impressive to hear such harmonies with electric guitars. I’m not sure how Forever Storm keeps getting better, but they do. The lyrics are the epitome of power metal; emotional and vast, with themes remaining larger than life.

To lead singer and guitarist Stefan, bring on the album please! We need more of this gorgeous sound! Here’s the single, shared with Vandala on a Monday morning. The clips featured are a progression of the band’s growth as a video biography of the band. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do:

Another Great Festival in The Okanagan!

We are always trying to make sure all our fans know about great shows and festivals. Yesterday another one came to my attention and has been going on for 23 years!

Stomp is a Grassroots biker rally that is organized by guys who live the life. The event runs the 18th to the 22nd of July at Silver Creek, BC. Silver Creek is a beautiful area to camp and enjoy the festival. The festival includes a Poker run, show n' shine, classic rock, biker games, and so much more.

Most importantly The Salmon Arm Summer Stomp is a non-profit group and throughout the years they have been able to donate to many worthwhile causes and is a 100% charitable event. Over the years this event has donated Total Contributions To Date of $181,345.00. In 2009 alone they donated $21,192.00 to local charities such as the hospice, local SPCA, Salvation Army and more.

Tickets are $55.00 for the full event or $34.00 just for Saturday. More information and tickets can be bought at http://www.summerstomp.ca/

LOCATION: The new Stomp location is exactly 5km past the Silver Creek Store, on the right hand side of the road if you are traveling from Salmon Arm. You will see signage, and a large fenced field.

Free Music Thursday - Slaves On Dope

Recently I read the interview that our Lana Nimmons did with Jason Rockman of Slaves On Dope. A very interesting and intelligent guy. (read interview here in Julys Vandala Magazine at www.vandala.ca) The band has had its struggles as most bands have, though have bounced back to take the music scene by storm.

Slaves on Dope currently have 3 amazing music videos that can be seen at http://www.slavesondope.com. Not only do they have amazing videos their music just rocks! You can get their song "No One To Blame" for free on the MetalMTLComp along with music from Ninjaspy, Forbidden Sin and many others at http://metalmtlcomp.bandcamp.com/  or below. Slaves on Dope will also be heading out on tour very soon so catch them live! They are a must see band - full tour listing at http://www.facebook.com/slavesondopeofficial.

Video Wednesday With Lana Nimmons

I had the pleasure of going to see 3 Inches of blood last Wednesday, and I just had to write something about the concert. It was epic! You have to see them live- I thought their album was just out of this world, but they are a million times better live than recorded, always a sign of a great band. Cam Pipes’s vocals were so amazing that they threw the crowd into a total frenzy of metal madness. Justin and Shane battled away on guitar like it was their last night out, while Byron shook the ground below us with pulsating bass lines. Ash was nuts on drums- his momentum just kept on building and building, I swear I thought he was going to explode! Here’s Metal Woman from their latest album- which has been racing through my head since that amazing night.

I also wanted to share this treat: here is a sneak peak from the Fozzy album to be released this August: Sin and Bones. This track is a perfect tapestry of melodic, high-adrenaline, fist-pumping mayhem. On top of everything, they have Avenged Sevenfold’s M. Shadows as a guest on vocals. Get ready, kids, and pre-ordering their new album.

Out of the Inbox with Lana Nimmons – “Make”

MAKE, from Chapel Hill, NC just released their album Trephine. MAKE consist of: Scott Endres, Spencer Lee, and Matt Stevenson. For a three person band their music is rich, and never leaves the audience with a dull moment.

Their “Trephine” is a tale of oppression where the sun decays, collapsing time itself. Their musical style ranges from psychedelic rock to death metal creating a dark atmosphere. Although the album is mostly slow paced, it is mesmerizing, and feels although it belong as a soundtrack to a zombie movie (maybe Pride, Prejudice, and Zombies?).

From their tracks: “Ancient Tongues” to “Into the Falling Grey”, their music is filled with ominous riffs, heavy bass lines, and apocalyptic vocals you should take a listen to.

Check out their album on bandcamp where you can listen, and order their CD, or on vinyl. http://thebandmake.bandcamp.com/

The Rockpile Brought L.A 80’s Hair Bands with a Surprise: BulletBoys

Raised Emotionally Dead gave me an invite to the Rockpile on a Tuesday evening. Toronto’s own had the place packed for their set, the crowd screaming their name. As always, they put on a great show and set afire excitement for the rest of the evening.

Marq, lead singer/ guitarist of the
BulletBoys, with Tess, the manager of R.E.D
A band that caught my eye and interest was L.A.’s BulletBoys. Originally from the 8os, they bring more than hair band trends. Bulletboys are heavy rhythm and blues and hard rock. Lead singer and guitarist Marq Torien knows how to keep a crowd’s attention.

Like the men of glam metal past, Torien is androgynous, and still over the years, very pretty. Eye lined eyes, full lips and a sexy performance on stage, makes him stand out. His vocals are similar to David Lee Roth with a command of audience that put us in line. If we weren’t paying attention we would be. He demanded it: “who wants to rock!? I said, ‘who wants to rock!?’”
In true metal loyalty he wrote a song for Dimebag Darell called “Witness”. Again he demanded our participation saying “if you don’t start being louder, I’m leaving through that exit sign!” We didn’t want that! We became louder, more attentive, and certainly more rock and roll.

My partner and I felt the sensuality of this front man in full force when he brought out words with description of satin sheets and times shared in them. That sweet moment, though treasured, didn’t last. The band would soon be bringing it hard and heavy with a tongue-in-cheek banter that seemed to acknowledge the fun in the performance of sexy.

“Smooth Up In Ya”, a crowd favorite, along with their cover of an R&B song “For the Love of Money” reflects on a fun time and I left a fan.

The whole band was animated, energetic, and rock and roll. Sometimes I wonder what that means, but they brought it. Do they have punk influence? Their song “Girls Kissing Girls” sounds like hair metal but with a different vibe. Are they making fun of silliness and misogyny with lyrics repetitiously spread like “disease”? I’m intrigued. Marq Torien, let’s discuss, I like your smile and stage presence.

Video Wednesday – Satire & Pain

Today I bring comedy. I have been busy and believe what can one do you relieve stress is to laugh. All Else fails is a band that I have came to know and love but is a  band with bad luck. Not any bad luck as in being kicked in the nads a million times. As I have coined them “the band that can be kicked in the nads a million times and gets up and laughs at you.”   They instead make web series and make people like me laugh. So  I bring you a video of their latest high jinx and one from seasons past.

The first is the latest and newest of All Else Fails web series. It is a mockery of so many things. As I use to be a fan of MTV pre jersey shore and other brainless crap and real hosts I love the satire on MTV!  Take that MTV! So have a morning laugh!

I also bring you the bands season  5 Final its one to check out (it really gets going at about a minute and a half). As mentioned before they always get back up and in this video its literal.  It’s a Canadian band “j*ckass” video. Not to crazy but just crazy enough.  I especially love the part of the lake. Being Albertan I can appreciate that fact the lake can be a little far at times. Also the whole “bread f*cked” hinders in the video which is hilarious since the one guy gets what he deserves!
