Female rock bands put on food drive to help the women of the Surrey Food Bank to celebrate International Women's Day with *Sisters and Misters Rock Night*
Local bands My Own Chaos, Grace Under Pressure, The Electric Demons and Shadows have teamed up to present a food drive concert event in honour of this International Women's Day. *'Evamping Rock: Sisters and Misters Rock Night' *will take place at Olympia Pizza on March 10, 2012, and it will feature performances from all 4 bands, all of which involve at least one female member.
Non-perishable food items will be accepted at the door in exchange for a discounted ticket rate, and the donations will go to the Surrey Food Bank. The Surrey Food Bank, a well-used resource in the community, receives no core government funding, and depends on events like this one for donations as the need for their services is growing at a rapid pace.
In honour of this International Women's Day, come help out those in need and check out some up and coming local talent! International Women's Day has been held globally on March 8^th since 1913. It involves "thousands of events held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements."
'Evamping Rock: Sisters and Misters Rock Night', will be held at Olympia Pizza Restaurant on 10257 King George Highway in Surrey. It is an ALL AGES event, though there is a bar for people with ID. Admission is $10, or $8 with a non-perishable food item (or two). The show starts at 8pm.
