DJ Hero - Less Guitar Wanking, More Sub Cranking

DJ Hero - Less Guitar Wanking, More Sub CrankingWell, they did it, they finally did it. Activision is bringing the DJ game out of the arcades and into your living room with the impending release of DJ Hero. Now, don't let the title fool you, I'm a guitar guy first and foremost. I love it to listen to it, I love to play it, I just love the guitar. That said, I will admit that the idea of letting gamers the world over work their scritchy-scratchies over their weedly-weedlies is a genius move.

Guitar Hero, for all it's greatness, has been and always will be rock-centric, and that leaves a huge consumer base untapped. With DJ Hero set for release on October 27th, hip-hop and electronic music fans will finally have a game that's all their's. No more playing and replaying the thrown bone of a Beastie Boys track on Guitar Hero or Rock Band, as DJ Hero allows players to scratch and fade all over their favourite pop, urban, and electronic songs.

Artists like Grandmaster Flash and the late DJ AM will be making appearances in the game; and the songs of Public Enemy, Tears For Fears, Gwen Stefani, and even Benny Benassi will be there to work your magic on. With the new turntable controller being included, DJ Hero is poised to try and take over the gaming world one cut at a time.

Further Info.

The below site after further investigation, this site has no licensing agreements with any artists therefore his mix tape downloads are not legit. It is still not known if its just pure promo (self ego only and to make donation money) or for sale. The albums also do not have the proper information on the tags on the songs thus artists do not get credit for their songs/albums. Also many artists do not know they are on the site and being insulted to top it off. I urge musicians not to sell out and submit to sites like the below, it will only hurt your career. There are many legit companies out there.

If you are on any site and find out any one is distributing your music without any agreement you have the right to have that behavior ceased. If money is being made you are aloud to sue since all musicians are entitled to there royalties. All musicians have the right to know where there music is going especially when profit is being made off their music. This also can fall under copyright law, it is just like copying a CD and sending it out. Indie artists do not make allot of money and doing something like this for personal gain is immoral and robbery.

It is the goal of Vandala Concepts to aide musicians, and one way is by bringing sites like the below to light, from submissions from fans and bands. Please remember this site is small and does not affect the industries opinion or anyone’s really at all. WE would like to thank the submitter, and we have many more reviews from this writer. He has a pre-review of DJ Hero game coming soon.

PS if you are in jam with any sites we have people and other companies that can help.

Cobalt Blues (cont. from newsletter)

Cobalt Blues

It's been 31 days since the Cobalt has been given it's notice, and Vancouver's only dedicated punk rock and metal venue is now 30 days away from it's shut-down date. The landlords are still insisting on giving Wendy 13 and her dedicated staff the boot for refusing to open at 9 AM, as opposed to the Cobalt's standard start time of 8:00 PM. Now, a lot of people may wonder what the big deal is about opening the Cobalt so early, but they may not necessarily be aware of the full situation.

The Cobalt bar is underneath one of Vancouver's notorious single-room occupancy hotels, the Cobalt Motor Hotel. The Cobalt Hotel is den of human misery, a place where the landlords cram addicts and the mentally ill into small, filthy rooms that have likely never seen maintenance since the 1970s at the absolute latest. This lack of repair work has extended to the bar beneath. The only time the building owners have ever had any work done on the Cobalt bar was when the ceiling caved in due to a build up of waste water and raw sewage from leaky pipes earlier in the decade. Any other improvements have been due to Wendy and her loyal crew of staff and volunteers.

I would just like to urge people to join the fight to save one of Canada's truly unique and historic venues by joining the Cobalt Volunteer Army on Facebook at
